Parenting your children can be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in life. Children do not come with an instruction manuel and the parenting role can be frustrating, overwhelming and difficult. You may find that you and your child are constantly in a power struggle, or your child may be running the household. One parent may be a very strict, while the other spouse is very easy going. All of these situations can result in additional stress on the family. While parenting requires time and patience, sometimes simple changes can have a long lasting positive impact on the family. Other times, due to trauma, illnesses or grief and loss the road to a happier household can be a bit longer, but can be done.
I have taught parenting course for many years in Orange County. I throughly enjoy the process of helping parents and their children to have healthier relationships. To a child, the impact of the parent/child relationship is of primary importance and will have a lifelong impact upon them. You do not have to be a perfect parent, but rather, a "good enough" parent. One that protects their child and prepares them for adulthood.
If you have children between the ages of 5 to 18+, I can help. Parents often need help with setting rules, effective communication skills, setting appropriate consequenses and boundaries, or teaching problem solving and decision making skills. Or you may be trying to manage your child's "acting out" behaviors, such as; anger/aggression, ADHD, excessive sadness, self harm or isolation. Again, parenting can be challenging but resources are available.
Remember that no child is perfect and no parent is perfect, but a better balance can be achieved. You can reach me by phone at 714-324-2929 or via email at - [email protected] . I look forward to hearing from you.
